Adding stock: which method to use
There are three ways to change how much of a product is in a warehouse. Pick the one that matches what actually happened, because each one leaves a different trail in accounting.
| What happened | Use | Where |
|---|---|---|
| You bought goods from a supplier (you have an invoice) | Purchase — adds stock, records the supplier debt, cost and VAT | Creating a purchase |
| Opening balance, stock count difference, damage, return without a document | Stock adjustment — changes the quantity with a reason, no supplier debt | Adjusting stock |
| Goods moved from one of your warehouses to another | Warehouse transfer — subtracts in one warehouse, adds in the other | Inventory → Warehouse transfers |
| Goods thrown away or consumed internally | Write-off — removes stock and books the cost | Inventory → Products write-off |
Quickest path for one product
- Open the product list and click the ⓘ next to the product's Quantity.
- Click Adjust stock, pick the warehouse, keep Add / subtract, type the quantity and a Reason, then Save.
The quantity changes immediately. For a whole delivery or a full stock count use the bulk page or a purchase instead.
Checking the result
- Product list → Quantity shows the total across warehouses; the ⓘ opens the per-warehouse breakdown.
- Inventory → Warehouse stocks lists every product's quantity per warehouse and lets you export it.
- Product → Turnover shows every document that changed the stock, including adjustments and their reasons.
